||"Had a great time in Skye. Callum said it was FAB-U-LOUS!!!! Stuart thought it was superb. Seven days of NO RAIN! Superb weather and great walks at Fairy Pools at Glenbrittle, Old Man of Storr, Quirang and Table Top. Saw White Tailed Eagles near portree. Stein Inn a bit hit or miss for food, beer good once you get used to it the surley attitude from the bar staff!! Loved, loved, loved Skye. We will definitely be back. Cottage well equiped for eating in which is just as well as all of the restaurants and hotels recommended by others were shut this week."

||"It's our third visit to Skye, but our first time at this cottage, and so late in the year. Considering it's November, the weather has been quite good. A trip out on the 'NV Stardust' from Portree is a nust, the Sea Eagles are amazing!! Saw an otter at Kylerhea, sea Eagle at Geary. The sunsets have been superb. 'Stein Inn' average. Found a fab fish and chip shop at Kyle. Went to firework and Bonfire Display at Dunvegan, it was lovely, but got very, very, wet!!! I have to say it is refreshing to find that it is a home lived in, rather than a damp ill equiped house (which were our previous experiences of holiday cottages). My two dogs loved it, we should have brought three, but we lost old boy bud four weeks ago - he'd have loved it here. The Skeabost Hotel: food FIRST CLASS!!!! Thank you x "

||"Although the weather was ever changing, the enjoyment never did. Thoughts feelings and emotions insired daily by the scenery and places waiting to be explored from this delightful cottage. Home comforts not lacking made this a relaxing week to recharge batteries. Wildlife seen a-plenty, culminating in a deer sighting at Fairy bridge on our full last day. Personal guides given by local crafts people proved educational and a joy to hear their enthusiasm in what they did. Thank you for letting us enjoy your bit of Skye. Cheers... Here's to our next visit. Xx "

||"Slight concern: details of how to use the TV would be helpful - we've left some on the table. (Thank you). We are grateful for the comfortable house & warm conservatory with beautiful views. We enjoyed especially Dunvegan Castle and gardens, Cottage Museum, Skye Skyns, Fish Restaurant, and inspiring walks. Thank you."

||"We had the nicest stay here. Quite nice weather (in the end of two days). Hope to have another opportunity of coming back here. We left some greetings from Farance for the McArthur family: a bottle of Bordeaux (a quite nice one) and a bottle of Champagne. Thank you for an enjoyable stay" (From Bill & Janice: Thank you for your kind and generous gifts - we so very much appreciate the wines which you left for us. Thank you again.)

||"Excellent stay. Weather pretty good. Accommodation great. Sky TV works - just wiggle to sort! Recommend Old School House and Dunvegan Hotel for food; and bakery in Dunvegan does nice bread. Stein Inn poor. Fishing trip on Loch Dunvegan brilliant - evening rather than morning (contact Seal Trips at Dunvegan Castle). Castle with it;'s gardens is also worth a visit. Boat out of Portree very good. Saw Sea and Golden Eagles. Glass bottom boat at Lochalsh, less good. Went over to Harris (ferry from Uig) and were lucky to have good views of an otter. Superb walks - Waternish Point and an easy track walk - but no whales seen. Neist Point was a superb trip out - Fishing off the rocks was great, but no whales. Saw a couple of basking sharks. Uig quiet but worth a trip, then round trotternish. Boggy walk by the right wall in front of the house, but fine and safe. Sitting on a rock on the hillside watching the world go by, pretty good. Hen harrier a highlight. The front security light came on a hare came in to the grden for an evening snack. Thoroughly enjoyed our break - will aim to return to Skye. Oh... And then there's the midgies!!! "

|26th July 2008
||"Great week - bright, warm and sunny for the first four days, then traditional scottish rain for the rest of the week. We can recommend the seal boat trip at Dunvegan Castle: West Coast paintballing in Portree, and especially the Uig pottery, (next to the Skye Brewing Company) where you can make your own pots on a potters wheel, or design and paint your own ideas on a pre-made mug, plate, jug, or egg cup! This was a great way to spend a wet and rainy afternoon. The cottage is warm and welcoming and has everything you need - but watch out for the top drawer of the dishwasher - it's a bit wobbly and as others have mentioned, the sky tv is on the blink (Bill's comments: sorry - now all fixed). We hope to be back soon. It's a great place for the dogs too. My springer spaniel loved the peir at Stein, and getting a daily soaking. We will all miss this peaceful place "

||"Destination worth every mile of our long journey here. Great cottage in a fantastic location. Used Ardmore for walks and fishing - caught pollock and sea trout and spotted a whale (briefly). Make sure you shut the gate to stay friendly with the landowner! Eating at Stein Inn very unremarkable. By contrast the Old School House (Dunvegan) is superb - food, service and great accommodating childrens choices from main menu. Fell in love with the view as you drop into Glendale. Toy museum there is a great way to step back into your childhood and owners very entertaining. Didn't venture beyond Waternish, Durinish and Trotternish, and did'nt need to - still haven't done everything that we would have liked to as the great weather and the views from the cottage enticed us just to 'be'. Molly (our aging cocker spaniel) also found the shift in the balance of walking and relaxing on this holiday very agreeable! Thank you for providing this rare combination of somewhere you would choose to saty (accommodation and location) that you can bring your dog to."

||"Coming from a flat and overcrowded country to Skye is for us like heaven on earth with Tigh na Mara as a wonderful throne in it. The house offers everything a sane person could ask for. The weather was un-scottish - beautiful (only one afternoon of persistent rain). Skye is of an overwhelming beauty. So we are sad to have to leave - and thanks for the wine of welcome." (and from an email on their return) "Dear Bill, My wife and I want you and Janice to know that we had two wonderful weeks at Tigh na Mara. The house had everything we could ask for, the weather was beautiful, the Isle of Skye breathtaking, the people most kind and friendfull, so you can imagine we are a bit sad here in a flat and crowded country wishing we were where we were last week."
||Maria and Frans. Holland
||"Lovely house, played my guitar in the sunroom most days. Waternish is beautiful! Went to Storr, Coral Beach, Bhorcasaig, all fantastic places to visit. Will return one day for sure."
|15th September 2007
||"Had a great week on Skye and enjoyed 'coming home' to this great house. Took me four days to find my electric blanket switch! Loved the sunroom for sunsets and cosy reading on rainy days. Weather was changeable to say the least! Old Man of Storr was worth the climb and the tea shop at Glendale was an oasis after the climb back from Neist Point. Skye is always a spiritual homecoming for me (Family in Dunvegan, Harlosh and Keistle). Had never been to Waternish before - just love the views, the air, and the driving! Hope to be back very soon..." "PS. Sky box does the job if it goes on the blink - unplug it at the wall and plug it in again". "PPS. Loch Bay Restaurant excellent - The freshest fish and friendliest service. Three Chimneys Restaurant v excellent, if a little over the top."
|6th September 2007
||"Location, Location, Location. Who cares about the TV that is currently not working and the slow running shower when you look at that view. (Note from Janice and Bill - all have been repaired and we are sorry that you had to experience that) The Loch Bay Restaurant and the Stein Inn helped. Don't miss trip to Neist lighthoouse, or Edinbane Pottery, or just up the road, Trumpan Churchyard. If Skye had great weather, it could be Maderis, so let's be grateful for small mercies!" (Note from a later Guest "TV is working - press Sky Button on remote control").

|28th July 2007
||"Excellent house and gardens - very dog friendly. Only one bad day, Friday, low cloud and rained all day. We lived in the Sun Room in the Evenings - it was heaven. Many good walks in Southern Skye, not as dog friendly as in the North, missed a couple of areas due to 'No Dogs' signs. Had a very pleasant evening evening on the hill behind Ardmore House. (locals very friendly). We spent many weeks in summer and winter in Scotland and the house is certainly in our top 2. Many thanks for the bottle of wine - it made a welcome isght after our journey."
||Alan and Gail, Bert and Bruce (Labs).

||"Had a great time and great weather - again! Highlights were Golden Eagle, Sea Eagle, Basking Sharks and lots of Dolphins and porpoises. Recommend a walk along the coast from just below Tigh na Mara to Ardmore Bay at low tide!" (note from Bill & Janice - Please make sure if you are doing this to check the tides. It can be very, very dangerous if you judge the tides wrongly.)

||"Unlike the previous guests we arrived in rain and then had beautiful warm dry and sunny days! Explored most of the NW and enjoyed it. Also amused the juvenile 'hoodies' (crows) by feeding them in the conifers or on the wal, and the noise they made! 'The Three Chimneys' is expensive but very memorable. Thank you very much."

Beach at Glenbrittle was amazing (volcanic sand so it was all grey). Skye Serpentarum small but worthwhile. We all held a snake! Will come back again."

||"Fantastic Cottage, Magnificent views over the bay. Skye is spectular, even in the rain!! Round trip around Trotternish is a must. Boreaig Piping Centre should be avoided at all costs. A real rip off!! Dunvegan Castle is visiting as are the Coral beaches behind the castle. Loch Bay Fish Restraunt and the Stein Inn at Stein are excellent. Good quality food and real ales to try. The Seal boat trip from Dunvegan Castle was worth every penny, once you got over the initial shock of the very small boat. Saw dozens of Basking Seals very close, and posed well for the camers. Watch out for the sheep and cattle on the road from Fairy bridge, and the rabbits late at night."

||"A perfect cottage for us, with brethtaking views. We love it! Two weeks of excellent weather - only wet one day. The boys enjoyed kayaking in the cove below the cottage - also at Glenbrittle Beach & Dunvegan. Climbing up to Corrie Lagan from Glenbrittle was wonderful as was a day trip with car to Harris from Uig. White beaches the best in Britain we think. Coral beaches North of Dunvegan also excellent. Thank you. We praised God too for his wonderful creation."

||"I was last on Skye to watch England win the world cup in a T.V. shop in Portree. This week world cup soccer was excellent, in a week with no rain except for one evening and night. We had good food and a warm welcome at the Lochbay Restaurant. Skye Skyns were also very friendly too. We found Armadale well worth the drive and the view from the top of McLeods tables on a clear and sunny day was totally breathtaking."

||"The holiday was just perfect the weather was also OK. The cottage was very nice, a dream come true and we hope to come back again one day. During our stay we went out with the"Bella Jane" to the Isles of Canna and Rhum and we were really lucky to see many seals, puffins and most important, dolphins and a whale. The Cullins were breathtaking. The nature on Skye was magnificent. Beautiful views. The cottage was perfect with all the luxury and a breathtaking view over the sea. We found the people very friendly and hope to be back one day. "I think to myself what a wonderful world! "
|3rd June 2006
||"Took lots of photos. Bluebells and other wildflowers are lovely. Enjoyed the fish that Duncan caught and we also collected some mussels and cooked them. Looking forward to dinner at the "Old Schoolhouse" tonight. The home made chocolates at "Vanilla Skye" in Portree are "heavenly"- the best! The truffles make a wonderful gift, £4.95 for a box of 12 pieces. Today is our 5th day here-we'll do some walking, taking in sights and scenery and of course more photography, so far used 12 rolls of film and have seven rolls left. I think I prepared well for this great vacation and can show off lots of photos when we get back to Los Angeles. I would definitely love to return ( in a different season ). Thank You. The Skye Mist, dessert at the Old Schoolhouse was delicious!! Mussels at Loch Bay Restaurant are excellent. Listening to the Peat Bog Faeries-Welcome to Dunvegan CD at the Castle gift shop is goof instrumental music, perfect for a Scottish setting.Very heavy fog on our last day, but still beautiful."

||"THANK YOU. We relaxed from our busy busy lives and enjoyed your comfy home. Couldn't believe the sunset on the day we arrived - sat and enjoyed it all. The wild life has been a joy to experience and we loved 'stepping back in time' to when much of the 'English' countryside had a variety of species of plants and animals - sadly no longer. Hopefully Skye will stay in this unpolluted state for ever and the eagles will continue to fly and the dolphins and whales swim! Hope to come back as we have only scratched the surface. An excellent week. Visit the 'fish lady' at Portree on the pier - you can cook it all in the excellent kitchen here, sit and look at the sunset, sip good wine, and think - 'what else can there be in life?' Didn't see a white tailed eagle - maybe next time! "

||"Wonderful week. Weather good - no rain - bright and sunny but a bit chilly. Cottage lovely, very comfy and clean - thank you. Went over to Raasay - wonderful walks but don't bother eating at hotel unless you like eating with the hens! Meal at Lochbay seafood Restaurant excellent. Also ate at Stein
- was OK. Recommend going to the Cuillin Hills Hotel in Portree - lovely views and food excellent. Went to the beach at Glenbrittle - volcanic sand and wonderful views of Cuillin Hills - excellent to walk in hills at back of beach. Also went up to the Kilt Rock and the Mealt Falls - wonderful. Had a fantastic week - not enough time to do everything - we'll have to return".

||"We have been very comfortable here in this lovely cottage. The weather has been fantastic - yes some rain, but better than the rest of the U.K. WE recommend the 'Bella Jane' from Elgol, the weather was superb - great views of the Cuillins. The 'Sea-fari' from Armadale - we followed a humpbacked whale for 2 hours! "

||"One of the best houses we have stayed in. We had a great weather, enjoyed the scenery, the quiet and the great wildlife. We saw an otter up close on the shore down from the house and dolphins playing in the still waters at Coral Beach. Waternish Point rock pools are the best. We were worried that their might be a lot of traffic on the road - might be a good idea to point out just how quiet this road is - we enjoyed the location of the house, furnishings, and the views to the Outer Hebrides. Interesting birdlife: Golden Eagles, Corncrake and Great Skua's, and other wildlife. Waternish peninsula is one of the nicest places to visit. We most enjoyed the lack of rules and regulations! Many, many thanks."

||“Looking forward to our return visit! A comfortable base with spectacular views. A mix of sunshine with some heavy rain and blustery winds, but very mild. A trip to Glenelg via the Ferry at Kylerehea is well worth the visit especially coming back via the road to Sheilbridge – views are out of this world. Also a visit to Morar white sands and green sea via the ferry to Mallaig from Armadale provided a wonderful day. Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant is good but you need to book. The Cuillins, as always, are spectacular and dramatic. Try Glenbrittle for a road with amazing close-up views of the mountains and sandy beaches and seashore at the end of the road.”
||Sandra & Neil, and Max, (the Golden retriever from Leicestershire).

||“A pity that time flies so fast on Skye, but during our fortnight I think we visited most of the highlights – walking on fine days and exploring craft shops and museums on rainy days – we particularly liked the Castle Keep Shop at Strathaird. We found the cottage very pleasant and the sunsets from the sunroom were one of the delights of our stay. Unfortunately, but no doubt to your satisfaction, our four-year old, mistook your payphone for her moneybox, filling it up with pounds, shillings and pence and euros. Can we please come back next year free! ”

La maison tres comfortable a ete comme un refuge après nos longues promenades. Elle est bien equipee et nous avons en un grand plaisir a nous cuisiner de bons petits plats. Le temps a ete agreeable. Nous garderous un bon souvenir de nos dacances. – We had already come to Scotland in 1992, but the Island of Skye enchanted us. It is an Island sumptuous, changing, astonishingly, with the dazzling landscapes. Your very comfortable house was like a refuge after long walks, it is well equipped and we had a great pleasure to cook. The weather was pleasant. We will have a good memory of our holidays”. || "Tigh na Mara is ideal for holidays in all weathers - and we had all weathers changing every 15 minutes or so. The sun lounge is the ideal place to watch the rain - a bit of a contradiction in terms really. Dunvegan Castle is well worth a visit. The Castle has a chequered history, the gardens are a surprise, and the woods opposite are tremendous for dog walks. For a souvenir print of Skye walks we recommend the Orbost Gallery. "

We hope to be back some day" Christopher & Ulrike (One week following Chris & Ulrike's holiday they emailed us to say…) "Dear Bill, Just a short message to inform you, that we reached the continent again, are already sitting in our offices again and only could dream of Scotland for a while. We had a wonderful time there, and would like to come back next year. Would it be possible to come to Tigh na Mara again from 08.05.04 - 15.05.2004, and if so, what would we have to do to confirm a reservation? Please consider this as a serious request, even if it is still a year to go. Thank you for advising us. Please give our regards to Janice! Best wishes from Ulrike and Chris"

||"What can we say? A wonderful week, with sun all days except a wet (and needed!) Friday. Thanks for all the walking /climbing guides left in the house, much appreciated for those less familiar with Skye. A lovely place to stay, a true "home from home" (and then some!) Can strongly recommend the 'Bella Jane' boat trip -the Cuillin's the easy way, and Macleods Tables - brilliant views. We'll be back…….!!! (P.S. - House found immaculate, and hopefully left so)!
